Balrams Coffee

Coffee Origins

Four regions of the Western Ghats

Every bag traces back to a specific origin — not a blend of anonymous lots, but a place with a name, an altitude and a farmer behind it.

Chikmagalur

900–1500m

Western Ghats, Karnataka

The birthplace of Indian coffee — high-altitude estates producing bright, full-bodied Arabica shaded under native rainforest canopy.

Coorg (Kodagu)

900–1700m

Western Ghats, Karnataka

Misty hill estates known for balanced, aromatic Arabica and Robusta grown alongside pepper and cardamom in a biodiverse canopy.

Kerala Highlands

600–1500m

Western Ghats, Kerala

Smallholder farms across Kerala's high ranges contributing distinct, spice-forward notes shaped by the region's intercropping traditions.

Wayanad

700–2100m

Western Ghats, Kerala

Cool, forested plateau producing rich, full-bodied Robusta with deep, earthy character.

Farmer First

The people behind every bag

We buy direct, pay fairly and stay close to the farms. Here are a few of the growers we work with season after season.

RG

Ravi Gowda

Thandigudi Estate · Chikmagalur

Good coffee starts with a healthy forest, not just a healthy tree.

LD

Lakshmi Devamma

Kadamane Hills · Coorg (Kodagu)

We grow coffee the way our grandparents did — alongside pepper, alongside cardamom, alongside each other.

TK

Thomas Kurian

Chembra Slopes · Wayanad

Robusta gets a bad name. Grown right, at this altitude, it earns its place in any cup.

AR

Anitha Raghavan

Wayanad Hills Cooperative · Kerala Highlands

On our own, we were price takers. Together, we set the standard.
